We specialize in computer related vision problems. We provide VDT or Computer Vision Syndrome with the new state-of-the art PrioVision Tester. This new technology simulates your visual function while using a computer, which helps the doctor determine if you require a different prescription for occupational purposes.
Is my computer contributing to my eyestrain?
It is possible. While computers do not cause permanent eye damage, they can lead to dryness, itchy, burning, redness, fatigue, heaviness of the eyelids or forehead, difficulty in focusing, headaches, tired at the end of the day, glare, and reduced productivity.
Am I asking too much of my eyes?
Possibly. Our eyes were designed primarily for use at distance. Computers are very demanding on our visual system. Your eyes blink less causing them to become dry, and irritated, adding to this problem is that computer screens are made up of pixels (or tiny dots) which the eye can’t maintain it’s focus. You must continually focus and re focus in order to keep images sharp which creates stress in the eye muscles. This is why a special pair of glasses for computer users is so important.
Can computer damage my eyes permanently?
There is no evidence that this is the case. However, large amounts of data do exist.
Can children suffer from Computer Vision Syndrome?
Yes. It is quite common in children. Children use computers at home, school, and mostly computerized games have been created for children to play with. They may manifest the same symptoms as adults. They also require the same type of treatments.
